2012 tea towel calendar/ $30

Say hello to 2012 with a cheery new tea towel calendar!
We decided that for 2012 and for every year on out, it's only right to have a Flytrap commemorative tea towel, and we're starting out the tradition with dill pickles and beets, baby!
We have a huge collection of vintage tea towel calendars, and it's always so satisfying to line them up in chronological order and see how design sensibility changed through the years. We use the years we were born--1978 and 1981--to decorate the walls in our living room, and all the others we use to dry our dishes, wrap our corn tortillas before we steam them, or pat dry our freshly rinsed herbs before chopping.

These towels were printed by Spoonflower just a few minutes down the road from our North Carolina studio and were hand-sewn by an incredibly talented seamstress in Chatham County. She has ingeniously created a special fold at the top which allows the towel to hang on a wooden dowel--you can hang it up as decoration for all of 2012 and then dry your dishes after that, just like in the vintage styles.
(However, the towel we show hanging is not on a fancy dowel but actually on 2 grill skewers! The exact same skewers we use for grilling veggies are just gently placed in either end of the towel and it hangs perfectly, just like magic.)
